Eliteserien Fantasy: Gameweek 30 Preview

As we look forward to the final gameweek of the season, FK Bodø/Glimt’s Ole Solbakken also bids farewell to the team as he will be moving to Roma, and tipster Jacob Silkstone believes he could be a great differential in his final game in our Eliteserien Fantasy preview for gameweek 30.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW29 Recap

Welcome to the final Eliteserien Fantasy preview of the season. Unfortunately, our Tipsters selection has been wheezing its way toward the finish line in recent weeks – the fantasy equivalent of the London marathon runner who infamously got stuck while trying to finish the race in a Big Ben costume. Captain Amahl Pellegrino delivered a double-digit haul last week, but no bonus points hurt as his teammate Hugo Vetlesen comfortably outscored him. Our punt on Ole Christian Sæter over the far more obvious Casper Tengstedt was backed up by the stats, but backfired horribly: Tengstedt was the highest-scoring forward of the week, while Sæter was yellow carded and then subbed at half-time. To make matters worse for his owners, he’s now suspended for the final gameweek.

In total, our strikeforce contributed just a single point to a weekly total of 47, only marginally higher than the overall gameweek average (44). Whether you were frustrated by following our picks last week or relieved at avoiding them, thank you for reading along this season, and good luck in the final gameweek. Let’s hope we can end on a high.

Eliteserien Fantasy Final Gameweek Picks

Goalkeeper

All hope of a medal place has now gone for Lillestrøm, who have (all too predictably) fallen away after a fantastic start to the season. Still, they’ve conceded fewer goals than anyone apart from champions Molde this season, and Mads Hedenstad Christiansen (5.9M) takes the first place in our team for the final gameweek. Christiansen has outscored every other keeper in the game this season (both in fantasy terms and in real life – he has one goal to everyone else’s zero) and now faces a HamKam side with three blanks in their last four away games.

Defence

Alfons Sampsted (5.9M) finally delivered on his underlying statistics to record a first assist of the season last time out. Sadly, he also conceded four goals as Bodø/Glimt played out an end-to-end thriller against Viking. We’re backing the deposed champions to finish strongly as they seek to wrap up second place, and Sampsted remains their most impressive defender in statistical terms.

We’ve spent a few weeks predicting a Kristiansund revival, and we’ve been consistently right on the team results but wrong on the individual players. Snorre Strand Nilsen (5.6M) comes into our selection as Kristiansund face an absolute must-win against already-relegated Jerv. Promisingly, Kristiansund have lost just one of their last six at home, with wing-back Nilsen the standout option from their defence.

Warren Kamanzi (5.2M) has been a favourite with Eliteserien Fantasy afficionados (quite a niche group, admittedly) ever since breaking into the Tromsø side early in the second half of the season. He hasn’t quite delivered on his initial promise, and is currently on a run of six consecutive blanks. Even so, a home game against Aalesund is a juicy fixture to end the season with, and both an attacking return and a clean sheet are possible in this one.

Mathias Løvik (5.0M) has ensured that Molde keep ticking over even while their senior wing-backs have been absent with injury, and the new Norwegian champions have now stretched their winning run to a scarcely-credible sixteen consecutive games. Løvik looks full of attacking intent, and will have a point to prove in the final game of the season as he seeks to keep himself in and around the first-team even after Haugen returns to full fitness.

Midfield

Ola Solbakken (11.0M) says goodbye to Bodø/Glimt this weekend ahead of a free transfer to Roma. Solbakken was in tears as he officially announced his departure, and he’ll want to leave the club in style. We’re gambling on him outscoring Pellegrino this week: sitting in just 7.9% of teams overall, Solbakken could be a key differential for anyone wanting to shoot up the rankings this gameweek.

Eric Kitolano (7.7M) is the most widely-owned of our four midfield picks this week, in a little over 13% of teams. He has scored in each of his last five games, while opponents Aalesund were thumped 4-0 by struggling Kristiansund in their last away outing. August Mikkelsen remains a viable alternative from the Tromsø midfield, but Kitolano is very much the man in form.

Speaking of men in form, Kevin Kabran (6.6M) ended a goal-drought by scoring twice last week against Bodø/Glimt. Viking’s season has been drifting aimlessly after a strong start, but they’ll be looking for a strong finish at home to Odd, and Kabran (with 3% ownership) is another promising differential pick.

Sander Kartum (5.8M) has been at the heart of Kristiansund’s slightly miraculous return to form, and should be straight back in the starting line-up after missing last week’s game through suspension. Kartum has provided five assists in his five home games, plus a goal and seven bonus points. With an overall ownership of just 1.4%, he could be a great pick at home to Jerv.

Attack

Thomas Lehne Olsen (10.9M) has still shown only sporadic glimpses of his best form since returning from a sojourn in Dubai… It’s also worth noting that all four of his goals for Lillestrøm this season have come away from home, but we’re backing him to finally notch one in front of his own fans at the last opportunity. Opponents HamKam have kept just one clean sheet since Jendal replaced Hagen as first-choice keeper.

An apology is due to Casper Tengstedt (10.4M) for leaving him out of last week’s selection in an attempt to look for a clever differential. Tengstedt continues to look like Rosenborg’s answer to Haaland, and still hasn’t blanked at home since signing in the summer transfer window. He looks like the safest bet for the captaincy on the final day of the season.

Eliteserien Fantasy: Gameweek 29 Preview

With just two gameweeks left and everything to play for, tipster Jacob Silkstone believes that Kristiansund BK’s Faris Moumbagna is worth considering in Eliteserien Fantasy this week as they look to snatch a relegation play-off spot at the death.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW28 Recap

Two weeks out from the end of the Eliteserien season, our Tipsters selection seems to be limping towards the finish line rather than powering down the home straight. Differential captain August Mikkelsen wasn’t involved in either of Tromsø’s goals at home to Jerv; all too typically, midfield alternative Eric Kitolano (flagged as injured during the week) was the player who cashed in against the league’s weakest defence. We doubled up on the Kristiansund attack in a 4-0 win against Aalesund, but got just a single fantasy return. Of our starting eleven, only the ultra-dependable Casper Tengstedt delivered a double-figure haul.

All of which left us on a disappointing total of 31 points, a full ten below the overall average. Surely our fortunes will turn around this week? One factor that won’t be at all useful for this article, but should help any patient fantasy managers this gameweek, is that all eight games are scheduled to kick off at the same time on Sunday, meaning we should have every starting line-up ahead of the deadline. That could be especially helpful in a week where Bodø/Glimt, Molde, and Rosenborg all have enticing fixtures.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW29 Picks

Goalkeeper

Lars Jendal (4.0M) has now started five consecutive games for a defensively solid HamKam side, and offers unbeatable value, even if his chances of a clean sheet are relatively low. Opponents Tromsø have been solid on the road, scoring in four of their last five, but have little left to play for. Jendal has a total of four save points in his five games this season.

Defence

Aalesund looked to have already packed their bags for an end-of-season holiday as they were thumped by Kristiansund last week. Lillestrøm have to win this weekend if they’re to have any hope of a top three spot, so we’re playing the numbers game and giving a spot to Vetle Winger Dragsnes (6.2M) again – still the most-selected player overall, with an ownership of just above 42%.

Rosenborg are suddenly right behind Bodø/Glimt in the battle for second place after a comeback win last weekend. Jerv will be no pushovers, based on recent form, but Leo Cornic (6.0M) has three attacking returns in his last five games and offers hope of points at both ends of the pitch.

After under-delivering all season, Alfons Sampsted (5.9M) finally got on the scoresheet in the midweek European game. Unfortunately, it was into his own net. He ranks fourth among all defenders for expected assists without having provided a single actual assist all season. We’re sticking to our earlier prediction that his bad luck won’t last all the way to the end of Gameweek 30.

Molde’s European campaign may have come crashing to a halt on a miserable Thursday night in Belgium, but they are looking untouchable domestically. They’ve now won an astonishing fifteen games on the trot, and wing-back Mathias Løvik (4.9M) has started five of the last six. With Kristoffer Haugen still not back in the matchday squad and Martin Linnes confined to the bench on Thursday, Løvik should retain his place… but keep an eye on the line-ups just in case.

Midfield

With 221 fantasy points, Amahl Pellegrino (12.6M) is just six short of overhauling his own points record from two seasons ago. Having been handed a rest in Europe, he should be ready to play the full 90 minutes in a crucial game at home to Viking, who were dismantled by Molde last week. Close to an automatic captain choice if you’re seeking to maintain rank.

Although it’s tempting to double-up on the Bodø/Glimt midfield with the hugely impressive Hugo Vetlesen, we’re looking for a cheaper differential alternative in summer signing Albert Grønbæk (7.7M). Grønbæk has taken some time to really hit top form, but now has three attacking returns in his last three games after registering none in his first seven. He has previously been handed three bonus points even when blanking, so he is also a favourite of the ‘man in the stands’ system.

Having been rested last week and subbed early in Europe, we expect Ola Brynhildsen (10.4M) to be back in the Molde starting eleven for the home game against Sandefjord. If starting, he’s Molde’s most potent attacking threat and a serious consideration for a differential captain if you’re willing to take a gamble in a bid for a big green arrow.

With Osame Sahraoui delivering only a string of one-pointers since returning from injury, we’re switching to Amor Layouni (8.0M) as our route into the Vålerenga midfield. Layouni has three double-figure hauls in his last six games, making him one of the most in-form players in the league.

Attack

Miraculously unflagged for what seems like the first time in months, Ole Christian Sæter (now 7.0M) makes a welcome return to our selection. Sæter ranks fifth in the league for expected goals, and (perhaps surprisingly) outranks teammate Tengstedt for expected goals per 90 minutes too.

Faris Moumbagna (6.4M) was a hugely disappointing pick last week, contributing nothing in a 4-0 win against Aalesund, but we’re sticking with him to complete our line-up as Kristiansund scrap to finish ahead of Sandefjord and give themselves a shot at avoiding relegation. Moumbagna ranks second in his team for expected goals and is a focal point for their attack.

Eliteserien Fantasy: Gameweek 28 Preview

Tromsø IL’s young talent August Mikkelsen keeps growing better and better as the years go by and has already matched his tally of goal involvements last year with still a few games to go. With a game against bottom-of-the-table Jerv, Tipster Jacob Silkstone is trusting him with the armband in his Eliteserien Fantasy preview for gameweek 28.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW27 Recap

98 of the top 100 teams in Eliteserien Fantasy captained the same player last gameweek, as did close to 90% of the top 1000 overall. Amahl Pellegrino also took the armband for our Tipsters selection, and Bodø/Glimt duly thumped Kristiansund 5-0. The league’s top scorer started, as expected, and was only subbed once the win had been wrapped up. Unfortunately, though, he was involved in precisely zero of his side’s five goals, squandering a string of golden opportunities and coming away with just a clean sheet point. Anyone daring to back a differential was heavily rewarded; seasoned Eliteserien Fantasy players were offered yet another sobering reminder that Norway is the spiritual home of the troll.

Despite our captaincy frustrations, the Tipsters selection had another solid week. Hugo Vetlesen did manage to make a meaningful contribution to that 5-0 win, scoring twice, while Thomas Lehne Olsen scored and picked up maximum bonus points as Lillestrøm won away at Haugesund. Clean sheets for Vetle Winger Dragsnes and Alfons Sampsted boosted our total to a very respectable 60 points, with the gameweek average down at 45.

With just three gameweeks remaining and the title battle already over, now is the time to look at some possible differentials for the final run-in.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW28 Picks

Goalkeeper

Having been dropped midway through the season, Jacob Storevik (4.8M) has now regained his place between the posts for a Sandefjord side desperately battling to avoid landing in the relegation spots. With six consecutive defeats on the road, it’s clear that their home form will be crucial if they are to stay up. This week, they face a HamKam side that have failed to score in any of their last three away games. Storevik has eight saves across his last two home matches, so he should be good for at least a save point here.

Defence

We promised differentials, but we’re starting our defence with the most selected player (in any position) in the entire game: Vetle Winger Dragsnes (6.2M). It’s worth noting that Dragsnes was pushed into the left centre-back role last week, but even as part of a back five he has plenty of touches in the opposition half. With Lillestrøm still fighting for a medal place, we’re backing them to get past Odd in what could be a tighter game than expected. A thrashing at the hands (or feet?) of Bodø/Glimt aside, Lillestrøm haven’t conceded more than once in a home game all season.

Warren Kamanzi (5.1M) is on a run of four consecutive blanks, but his attacking potential makes him our top pick from the Tromsø defence ahead of a home game with Jerv. Despite not securing a regular starting role until Gameweek 20, Kamanzi has three goals and two assists this season, ranking equal first among Tromsø defenders for total fantasy points.

With neither Linnes nor Haugen in the squad for the Thursday night European game, you’d expect Mathias Løvik (just 4.9M) to be a secure starter at wing-back for Molde for at least one more gameweek. Løvik has attacking returns in two of his last four starts, and represents incredible value as long as he keeps getting the minutes.

Midfield

A goal and an assist against Rosenborg continued a hot streak for Ola Brynhildsen (10.4M) since returning from injury, and he was also on target in the midweek European game. There’s some risk of reduced minutes against Viking, but one of the most in-form players in the league against one of the shakiest defences seems like a pick that’s too good to ignore.

Johan Hove (8.5M) has now equaled his best-ever Eliteserien season in terms of attacking returns, with 11 goals and two assists. Unsurprisingly, he is underperforming his expected assist stats, and another haul should be well within his reach against Haugesund on Saturday. Haugesund’s form has been unpredictable of late, with a narrow win against Kristiansund preceded by a 4-0 thumping away at Sarpsborg.

Osame Sahraoui (8.4M) remains head and shoulders above the rest of the league for expected assists, although his last attacking return came way back in Gameweek 21. Three of his four double-digit hauls this season have come at home, and a defensively suspect Sarpsborg side look like a favourable match-up for Vålerenga this week.

August Mikkelsen (7.9M) is our second Tromsø pick this week. His form has picked up in the second half of the season: having registered just two assists before Gameweek 16, he now has a total of eleven attacking returns and outranks all of his teammates except Eric Kitolano (an injury doubt at the time of writing) for expected goals per 90 minutes.

Bendik Bye (6.5M), somewhat surprisingly, ranks third in the league for expected goals this season, behind only Pellegrino and Fofana. Kristiansund face a must-win game at home to Aalesund, and we’re backing them to keep their survival hopes alive for at least one more week. Kristiansund have won three of their last five at home, whereas Aalesund have just two away wins all season.

Attack

Casper Tengstedt (10.3M) retains his place in our selection despite a tricky fixture against Bodø/Glimt. The defending champions suffered a demoralising late defeat against Zurich on Thursday, and Rosenborg’s home form is notably strong. The Trondheim side have won every match in front of their own fans since Tengstedt signed, and Tengstedt is yet to blank at home. We’re happy to pick him over any of the Bodø/Glimt attackers this week.

Faris Moumbagna (6.4M) is currently owned by just 1.5% of teams, but has a vital role to play as Kristiansund’s hopes of survival hang by the thinnest of threads. Before a minor injury in Gameweek 24, Faris was on a run of five goals in four games. An encounter with Jerv offers a golden opportunity to rediscover that form. We’re backing Kristiansund to win this weekend’s relegation six-pointer, and Faris looks like the best budget striker in the game right now.

Eliteserien Fantasy: Gameweek 27 Preview

Tobias Heintz might’ve been inconsistent for Sarpsborg this season but he is turning the heat up in the last few games with nine goals and two assists in just his last 10 appearances. So it is no surprise that he is a part of Jacob Silkstone’s Eliteserien Fantasy TOTW for gameweek 27 with a match against Tromsø.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW26 Recap

Putting our faith in a team with just two wins in their previous eleven matches, hovering just above the relegation zone. What could possibly go wrong? Perhaps surprisingly, investing in Aalesund for the double gameweek was at least a moderate success. Two of our key picks, Simen Rafn and Simen Bolkan Nordli, produced a total of 27 points between them. Rafn came away with two clean sheets and a bonus point, while Bolkan Nordli scored a superb free kick in a crucial game against Jerv. Unfortunately, double gameweek picks not named Simen performed far less impressively. Our captain pick, Moses Ebiye, missed a string of chances and then received a yellow card for kicking an opponent in the face (accidentally). With the popular single gameweek captaincy options all returning, faith in Moses proved damaging for us.

Our Tipsters Team of the Week finished on a respectable 74 points, with the overall average down at 56. We’ll be hoping to do slightly better with this week’s selection…

Eliteserien Fantasy GW27 Picks

Goalkeeper

It was initially assumed that Lars Jendal (3.9M) came into the HamKam team only because first choice Nicholas Hagen had been away on international duty (the official fantasy game flagged Hagen with “jet lag”), but Jendal has made the spot his own with a string of competent performances between the posts. He’s the cheapest starting option in the game, and opponents Strømsgodset have drawn a blank in three of their last four away from home.

Defence

Vetle Winger Dragsnes (6.1M) is now owned by (at the time of writing) exactly 40% of teams overall, meaning 40% of managers were infuriated by Molde’s late breakaway goal in the dying seconds of last week’s game. Dragsnes came away with a solitary bonus point for his efforts, but it could have been so much more. Lillestrøm have been less impressive on the road, but he makes our selection for this week.

Statistically, Alfons Sampsted (5.9M) has been one of the unluckiest fantasy picks this season. His expected assist total is exactly on par with Martin Linnes’, but Linnes has five actual assists to Sampsted’s zero. He also outranks team-mate Hugo Vetlesen (seven actual assists). Can Sampsted finally deliver on those underlying numbers before the end of the season? Even if he can’t, he’s a reasonably-priced route into a strong Bodø/Glimt defence.

Turning our attention to the budget options, Torje Wichne (4.3M) makes his first appearance in our selection this season. Jerv have fought hard in recent weeks, and they have to get a result against Viking if they’re to have even the faintest hope of survival. Viking have lost three of their last four away games, while Wichne has two assists in his last four matches.

Midfield

All hope of a title challenge has now evaporated for Bodø/Glimt, but Amahl Pellegrino (12.5M) has rediscovered his best form and will be the popular choice for the captaincy this week. Among all active players, he leads the league for expected goals and assists (and, more conveniently for fantasy points, actual goals, and assists) per 90 minutes. We’re not brave enough to ignore him for the captaincy at home to struggling Kristiansund.

We’re happy to double up on the Bodø/Glimt midfield, with Hugo Vetlesen (9.3M) joining Pellegrino. Vetlesen now has three consecutive double-digit hauls and his ownership almost exactly matches Pellegrino’s. He has slightly outperformed the underlying numbers, but looks like a key player to own again this week.

Tobias Heintz (8.1M) continued his incredible run of form with the winner against Viking last week. He now has three double-figure hauls in his last four, plus nine goals in his last nine matches. Opponents Tromsø haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home all season.

After delivering in the double gameweek, Simen Bolkan Nordli (7.4M) keeps his place in our selection as Aalesund prepare for a home game against Sandefjord. The visitors have five consecutive defeats on the road, and are sliding dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Sarpsborg’s Anton Saletros (6.6M) performs notably better at home. He has attacking returns from all of his last four home games, and eleven of his thirteen attacking contributions this season have been on his home turf. As mentioned above, the form book points to another Sarpsborg win this weekend, with Saletros likely to be involved.

Attack

Thomas Lehne Olsen (10.8M) hasn’t quite rediscovered his best form since rejoining Lillestrøm in the summer transfer window, but a brace away at Viking showed what he’s capable of. Owned by just 2.9% of teams at the moment, he can still be a key differential for Lillestrøm’s favourable final four fixtures.

Having disappointed thousands of teams in the double gameweek, it seems written in the stars that Moses Ebiye (7.4M) will finally deliver the points a week too late. Sandefjord aren’t the most defensively resolute opponents and Ebiye is certainly getting chances at the moment. The question is whether, this week, he can finish them…

Eliteserien Fantasy: Gameweek 26 Preview

Aalesunds FK might be hovering just above the relegation zone but a round-trip against both of the promoted teams, Jerv and HamKam, makes them prime fantasy assets in Tipster Jacob Silkstone’s Eliteserien Fantasy gameweek 26 preview.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW25 Recap

Gameweek 25 of this season might well turn out to be a pivotal moment in the history of Eliteserien Fantasy, but not because of anything that happened on the pitch. Instead, all the controversy surrounded an event that happened long after the final whistle. Amahl Pellegrino was the most popular captain pick overall (as forecasted in last week’s article) and contributed a goal and two assists as Bodø/Glimt eased to a 4-1 victory over Sandefjord. His owners (more than a third of teams overall) must have been fairly confident that he’d receive three bonus points from the ‘man in the stands’. If not three, then at least some…

Instead, Pellegrino got absolutely nothing. Bafflingly, Sandefjord’s budget defender Quint Jansen took two bonus points, while Bodø/Glimt defender Alfons Sampsted took one. The maximum bonus went to Hugo Vetlesen — not hugely controversial when you consider that Vetlesen scored twice, but some eyebrows were raised when a quick bit of research revealed that the ‘man in the stands’ handing out the points had a fantasy team with Vetlesen and Sampsted, but not Pellegrino.

Given the reaction to that information, it seems reasonably safe to predict that the game will be switching to a new bonus points system from next season, with a little less controversy involved…

Another key off-the-pitch event was the late postponement of Jerv’s game against Aalesund. We’d gone heavy on Aalesund players for our Tipsters selection, and ended up with only eight starters. Even so, our total score of 75 was ahead of the gameweek average (57) and we’ll be sticking with our Aalesund picks for the hastily-arranged double gameweek.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW26 Picks

Goalkeeper

Jerv may have had a tough time in their first season at this level, but no goalkeeper has provided better fantasy value than the heroic Øystein Øvretveit (4.7M). Øvretveit has made nearly 20 more total saves than the second-best keeper, and more penalty saves than anyone else in the league. He also has the third-highest bonus points total among all keepers, and his last double gameweek ended with an 18-point haul. We’re not expecting anything quite as miraculous this time, but he’s certainly crucial to Jerv’s chances if they’re to have even the slightest hope of escaping relegation.

Defence

From one relegation candidate to another, we’re going for an unconventional defensive pick in the form of Kristiansund’s Snorre Strand Nilsen (5.6M). Kristiansund looked down and out at the halfway stage of the season, but they’re now unbeaten in their last four home games and showing plenty of fight as they attempt the great escape. This week’s opponents, Haugesund, have won just twice away from home all season and failed to score in two of their last three away games. Strand Nilsen’s underlying stats are a little underwhelming, but he does outrank his defensive colleagues for expected assists and chances created.

Leo Cornic (5.9M) delivered the goods on his only previous appearance in our selection, contributing a goal and an assist in Rosenborg’s thrilling 4-4 draw with Kristiansund. We’re turning to him again as Rosenborg prepare to face Strømsgodset, who have just a single goal from their last three away games (all defeats).

Simen Rafn (4.6M) finally opened his goalscoring account for the season in Aalesund’s last game, and he remains the most likely source of attacking threat from their backline. A double gameweek against HamKam and Jerv is an unexpected boon for his owners (although there aren’t many of them, given that he’s currently in just 2.5% of teams overall).

Midfield

With our focus mainly on the double gameweek sides, there’s plenty of budget left over for a premium midfield punt. Molde have a tough fixture against Lillestrøm, but they’re just one match away from wrapping up the title and they should have plenty of motivation to get it done as quickly as possible. Magnus Wolff Eikrem (12.2M) has had his minutes managed all season, but he remains a key player whenever he gets time on the pitch. Significantly, he was rested in the midweek European game and we like his chances of a start this weekend.

Tobias Heintz (8.0M) lit up the league with his display against Haugesund last week, and now has eight goals and two assists from his last eight games. He now ranks 9th for expected assists and 12th for expected goals among all active players, and is by a considerable margin the most in-form player in the fantasy game.

Sandefjord’s Mohamed Ofkir (7.4M) was temporarily the most essential player in the game at one stage earlier this season, and he makes a return to our selection with Sandefjord in desperate need of maximum points at home to Jerv. Ofkir is on an incredible run in home games: he’s provided at least one attacking contribution in all of his last nine starts, a sequence stretching all the way back to Gameweek 5.

Both of our Aalesund picks from last week reappear in our latest selection, in the hope that this will be a case of second time lucky. Simen Bolkan Nordli (7.4M) is our midfield selection: as mentioned in the last article, he outranks all of his team mates for expected assists this season.

Confirming our faith in Kristiansund’s prospects of pulling off a miraculous escape, Bendik Bye (6.5M) is our final midfield selection this week. Bye now ranks second in the league for expected goals, behind only Pellegrino, and remains the key component of the Kristiansund attack.

Attack

Also reappearing in our selection is Aalesund striker Moses Ebiye (7.3M). Ebiye’s overall ownership is still under 10%, but he’ll be a popular captain pick for the top fantasy teams given the very favourable double gameweek fixtures. With four goals in five games since he came into the Aalesund team, he’s our captain choice too.

Meanwhile, Casper Tengstedt (10.2M) continues his Haaland-esque form at Rosenborg. Another haul last week brings his total up to 17 attacking returns in nine games, with just a single blank so far. He’s been a revelation since his arrival in the summer transfer window, and we’re backing that form to continue against Strømsgodset.

Eliteserien Fantasy: Gameweek 25 Preview

While newly-crowned Eliteserien champions Molde FK have kept a cleansheet in their last three games across all competitions, Martin Linnes offers a lot more, with four goals and four assists this season. So it is no surprise that he deserves a spot in Tipster Jacob Silkstone’s Eliteserien Fantasy TOTW for gameweek 25.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW24 Recap

Slightly unexpectedly, Gameweek 24 turned out to be the best of the season so far for our Tipsters selection. Nine of the eleven picks returned, with double-digit hauls for Aleksander Melgalvis, Leo Cornic, Ola Brynhildsen, Amor Layouni and captain Casper Tengstedt. Our final total of 116 points wasn’t too far away from tripling the gameweek average (46).

With that score behind us, logic dictates that the only way is down in Gameweek 25. Bodø/Glimt’s game against Sandefjord is the headline fixture, but is it also a golden opportunity for a team with no realistic shot at winning the league to rest players in the middle of a packed European schedule? Sadly, we won’t be getting team news ahead of the deadline, but minutes played against Arsenal on Thursday evening are factored into our selection here.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW25 Picks

Goalkeeper

HamKam’s first-choice keeper Nicholas Hagen remains flagged, although it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see him regaining his place this week. Even so, Lars Jendal is an ideal squad option for the bargain basement price of 3.9M. Do we expect a clean sheet away at Molde? Definitely not, although the hosts did struggle to break down a resolute Tromsø side last week. Do we expect save points? Well, it’s worth noting that Hagen’s only double-digit haul of the season came in the reverse fixture…

Defence

With Kristoffer Haugen still not fully fit and an early substitution in the midweek game, Martin Linnes (7.5M) remains our favourite defensive option from champions-elect Molde. Linnes now ranks third among all defenders for xA, and opponents HamKam are on a run of six games without a win away from home.

Cult hero Brice Wembangomo (6.1M) gets a long overdue return to our selection ahead of a home game with Sandefjord. Bodø/Glimt may have one eye on Europe and a mouthwatering fixture against Arsenal, but they should still ease past a struggling Sandefjord side. Wembangomo has completed 90 minutes in five of the last six games, and offers plenty of attacking threat too.

Strømsgodset don’t have much left to play for, and it feels as though their season is drifting towards a lower midtable finish. They’ve lost four of their last five, while opponents Tromsø gave Molde a very close game last week and were unlucky to come away with nothing. Warren Kamanzi (5.0M) has been a revelation since cementing a regular starting spot, and we like his chances of adding to a total of five attacking returns so far this season.

Budget defender Dennis Gjengaar (4.1M) started in the front three again for Odd last week, contributing one goal in a 2-2 draw against Haugesund. His minutes aren’t as secure as we’d like, but a 4.1M defender playing on the wing seems almost too good to ignore.

Midfield

This is another of those weeks where Amahl Pellegrino (12.3M) looks impossible to ignore. A top-class performance against Lillestrøm saw him reach 20 goals for the season, and he’s surely not done yet. The major question mark this round is over how many minutes he gets: there’s no need to give him the full ninety against Sandefjord, but he’ll almost certainly be the most captained player this week and it’s “hide behind the sofa” time if you don’t own him. It’s worth noting that he wasn’t subbed early on Thursday evening, so we’d bet on at least some rest in this fixture.

If it weren’t for some bad luck with injuries, Ola Brynhildsen (10.4M) would be in considerably more than 14% of teams overall. He scored twice in the Europa Conference League fixture on Thursday, and has goals in seven of his last eight league games. As Molde look to wrap up the title early, he looks like the most essential component of their attack.

Tobias Heintz (7.9M) was one of the few players to let us down last week, but he has five goals in his last three appearances at home and Sarpsborg will be optimistic of continuing their recent strong run with a win over midtable Haugesund. Heintz is 11th in the league for expected assists and 12th for expected goals – one of very few players who ranks highly in both tables.

This week’s first big punt is a player who has just one goal in his last fifteen matches and is owned by 3% of teams. Simen Bolkan Nordli (7.4M) was heavily linked with a move away from Aalesund during the summer transfer window, but he has stayed put, and we like his chances of a haul against Jerv (his highest score of the season came in the reverse fixture). He outranks all of his teammates for expected assists, although he hasn’t quite delivered on his underlying stats yet.

Markus Kaasa (6.1M) was benched for the midweek European game, but has started all of the last four in the league (scoring four goals). At his price, he’s a great route into the Molde midfield, possibly alongside Brynhildsen.

Attack

Along with Heintz, Moses Ebiye (7.3M) was our only other pick to blank last round. And, just like Heintz, he’s getting another chance to impress. Aalesund travel to face a Jerv team who are surely relegation-bound. Ebiye ranks in the top ten of all active players for expected goals, and has been on the scoresheet four times in his last five matches.
