After the opening week of the Champions League which had lots of goals and high-scoring games, UCL Fantasy is back for matchday 2 and we present to you our top 10 players in each position that you should consider.
UCL Fantasy Forward Rankings
Rank | Name | Team | Opponent | Value | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Karim Benzema | Real Madrid | vs Sheriff Tiraspol | €10M | Benzema is the most in form player in Europe currently with 8 goals and 7 assists in just 7 La Liga games. The next game against Sheriff is as good as it gets and he is a great long-term pick as he doesn't play Inter until MD6 but the rumors about him being rested cast a major shadow of doubt. |
2 | Robert Lewandowski | Bayern Munich | vs Dynamo Kyiv | €11.5M | Lewandowski's 19-game consecutive goal-scoring run came to an end for Bayern Munich last week but it shouldn't be much of a concern since the last time he went without scoring in all competitions for more than two games was back in November 2019. |
3 | Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea FC | @Juventus | €10.5M | To say that this is one of the worst Juventus teams in recent years would be an understatement. They have been barely scraping past relegation contenders, have conceded 10 goals in just 6 games which is the most among teams in the top 10 so I can't see why Lukaku won't score against them. |
4 | Lautaro Martínez | Inter Milan | @Shakhtar Donetsk | €10M | It is almost 50/50 between Martínez and Džeko with the former having more goal threat but is often subbed out early and the latter being on spot-kick duties. |
5 | Sébastien Haller | Ajax | vs Beşiktaş J.K. | €8.5M | I am not expecting Haller to repeat his 4-goal heroics but he is still worth a shout as a differential. Also worth considering is teammate Dušan Tadić. He has 4 goals and 5 assists in 7 Eredivisie games at an average of 0.64 goals per 90. Haller might've stolen the show last time out but Tadić could be a shrewd pick with added potential to create goals from set-pieces as well as score them. |
6 | Duvan Zapata | Atalanta | vs Young Boys | €9.5M | |
7 | Cristiano Ronaldo | Manchester United | vs Villarreal | €11M | |
8 | Neymar | PSG | vs Manchester City | €10.5M | Bad matchup but I wouldn't count him out. |
9 | Memphis Depay | Barcelona | @SL Benfica | €8.5M | Barcelona are still trying to figure out how to play football under Koeman but Depay is one of the few players that the team can rely on to score goals and he only plays Benfica and Dynamo Kyiv until MD6. |
10 | Diogo Jota | Liverpool | @FC Porto | €8M |

---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | @Porto | €10.5M | Don't be afraid to pick him even if the fixtures aren't favorable. Salah rarely ever disappoints in fantasy. |
2 | Leroy Sané | Bayern Munich | vs Dynamo Kyiv | €9M | Sané has gone from being on the verge of dropping from the national team and Bayern Munich starting XI to their most in-form midfielder in the space of just one month. He has the position change from the right to his preferred left-wing to thank for that and he has scored or assisted in each of the six games for Bayern Munich since then. |
3 | Christopher Nkunku | RB Leipzig | vs Club Brugge | €7.5M | Nkunku is one of those players that have been overlooked because he doesn't play for a more popular club and his hat-trick last week shouldn't surprise those that follow him too much. RB Leipzig are slowly starting to find their feet under Jesse Marsch and I expect Nkunku to build on his good form. An interesting tidbit from the coach's latest presser is that Nkunku might play as a striker which just increases his appeal. |
4 | Kai Havertz | Chelsea | @Juventus | €9M | |
5 | Bruno Fernandes | Manchester United | vs Villarreal | €10.5M | |
6 | Kevin De Bruyne | Manchester City | @PSG | €11M | |
7 | Ruslan Malinovskiy | Atalanta | vs Young Boys | €7.5M | He was the most dangerous player on the pitch in the last game against Inter Milan and if you can look past his Euro Fantasy performances then Malinovskiy is certainly worth a shout as a differential pick. |
8 | Marco Asensio | Real Madrid | vs Sheriff Tiraspol | €6.5M | There are few Real Madrid attacking midfielders to choose from with Asensio being a rotation risk and Hazard being out of form. If only Vinícius was somehow a midfielder in this game. |
9 | Nicolò Barella | Inter Milan | @Shakhtar Donetsk | €7M | Barella might be a central midfielder but he is on quite the hot streak with a return in each Serie A game this season and could be a bargain at €7M. |
10 | Jude Bellingham | Borussia Dortmund | vs Sporting CP | €7M | If he starts in an attacking role as he did against Beşiktaş then another big score could be on the cards. |
UCL Fantasy Defender Rankings

---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Joshua Kimmich | Bayern Munich | vs Dynamo Kyiv | €6.5M | Julian Nagelsmann has fixed Bayern's biggest issue which was their defence and Kimmich who plays OOP in midfield is almost a must-have because of how involved he has been in the Bayern attack with 3 goals and 3 assists in just 6 Bundesliga games. Upamecano is also worth a shout with his ball recovery potential as he costs €1M cheaper. |
2 | Antonio Rüdiger | Chelsea | @Juventus | €5.5M | If your original plan was to toss Chelsea defenders out when they play Juventus, you might want to think about it again as Juventus will be without Dybala and Morata for the game. |
3 | Virgil Van Dijk | Liverpool | @Porto | €6M | |
4 | Robin Gosens | Atalanta | vs Young Boys | €5.5M | United make Young Boys look like a good team but that isn't the case as it was only their second-ever win in the UCL. |
5 | Éder Militão | Real Madrid | vs Sheriff Tiraspol | €5M | |
6 | Noussair Mazraoui | Ajax | vs Beşiktaş J.K. | €4.5M | There are few forwards with more goals and assists than Mazraoui domestically (4G and 2A in 7 games) so there is incredible upside for him over here in a game against a Beşiktaş side missing as many as 11 first-team players. |
7 | Achraf Hakimi | PSG | vs Manchester City | €6.5M | How this game is going to go is anyone's guess but PSG have the home advantage. |
8 | Denzel Dumfries | Inter Milan | @Shakhtar Donetsk | €5M | Dimarco (if he starts) > Dumfries. This is because Dimarco is on corners, free-kicks and even took a penalty recently but missed. |
9 | João Cancelo | Manchester City | @PSG | €6M | |
10 | Mats Hummels | Borussia Dortmund | vs Sporting CP | €5M | Why do I prefer Hummels over Guerreiro? 1) He is better at ball recoveries so his floor is higher. 2) Has 1 goal in the last 3 Champions League seasons compared to Guerreiro's 1 goal and 1 assist. 3) Costs €1M less. |
Goalkeepers
Rank | Name | Team | Opponent | Value | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Manuel Neuer | Bayern Munich | vs Dynamo Kyiv | €6M | Expensive, but a tempting pick as he plays Benfica and Kyiv over the next four games. |
2 | Edouard Mendy | Chelsea | @Juventus | €6M | |
3 | Alisson Becker | Liverpool | @Porto | €6M | |
4 | Andriy Lunin | Real Madrid | vs Sheriff Tiraspol | €4M | A €4M keeper against Sheriff Tiraspol that rotates perfectly with Neuer, Mendy and other budget keepers is just perfect but the clean sheet odds depend on how heavily Real Madrid rotates. |
5 | Remko Pasveer | Ajax | vs Beşiktaş J.K. | €4.5M |
Value Rankings

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Miguel Gutiérrez | DEF | Real Madrid | vs Sheriff Tiraspol | €4M | He might not play too often in the group stages but Gutiérrez is great if you are on limitless this week. |
2 | Jérôme Roussillon | DEF | Wolfsburg | @FC Sevilla | €4M | |
3 | Edin Džeko | FWD | Inter Milan | @Shakhtar Donetsk | €7.5M | |
4 | Gregor Kobel | GKP | Borussia Dortmund | vs Sporting CP | €4.5M | The entire Dortmund backline did not train yesterday which is why I am a bit skeptical here. |
5 | Mohamed Simakan | DEF | RB Leipzig | vs Club Brugge | €4.5M | |
6 | Artem Dzyuba | FWD | Dynamo Kyiv | vs Malmö FF | €8M | Malmö have possibly the worst defence in the tournament so a Dzyuba or Malcolm punt could be rewarding. Not that I am considering either of them seriously with all the other forwards available. |
7 | Casemiro | MID | Real Madrid | vs Sheriff Tiraspol | €6.5M | |
8 | Karim Adeyemi | FWD | RB Salzburg | vs LOSC Lille | €7M | Adeyemi won an outrageous 3 penalties in the last game and missed one of them but I think that he has some goals in him. |
9 | Brahim Díaz | MID | AC Milan | vs Atlético Madrid | €6M | Díaz has been AC Milan's best player so far with 4 goals and an assist in 7 Serie A games including consecutive goals in his last two games. Possibly the best midfielder within €6M. |
10 | Diogo Dalot | DEF | Manchester United | vs Villareal | €4.5M | Probably the cheapest you will get a United defender for all season but the team has kept just one clean sheet across all competitions so far. |
