With just a few hours to go for the gameweek 2 deadline, tipster Aaron shares his insights on the best teams and players for the week in Serie A Fantasy.
We go again. Gameweek 1 is in the books and points have been updated. We learned one thing from round one and that is points update overnight. Round two of Serie A Fantasy is back open for transfers to take place by us Fantasy managers. Moving forward this week, we are going to take another look through some of the games from Saturday, Sunday and Monday and where the points will come from the most.
UDINESE VS SALERNITANA
Salernitana narrowly avoided relegation last season, by achieving 18 points from their previous 15 matches. I wonder is that going to happen again this time around. At home to AS Roma this past week, it was a close-fought match and they managed to only lose 0-1. If you are on the lookout this week from Salernitana, they have some great under €5.0M options for your bench or fourth defender spot. Take Federico Fazio, who against AS Roma, came up with a six-point haul.
There are actually some great names in the Salernitana squad, that should get Fantasy managers’ hearts pumping. Former Inter Milan and Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva and former Bayern Munich and Fiorentina attacking midfielder Franck Ribery also play for Salernitana. Candreva will cost you €7.6M, but Ribery will only cost €6.0M.
On the Udinese side of things: Former Watford forward Gerard Deulofeu came up with goods, even though AC Milan came out of the winning side last weekend. Seven points on a points score of €7.4M, one assist and three points from playing 90 minutes. Another former Watford midfielder Roberto Pereyra was on point in the midfield, with seven points including an assist and two bonus points.
INTER MILAN VS SPEZIA
Spezia had a great start to their Serie A campaign last weekend. I believe this week it will all come undone against Inter Milan. Their defenders and goalkeeper were the ones to have last week and again this week their keeper will be one to have, if Inter can get many a shot off. Bartlomiej Dragowski will be a save points magnet having come through with 11 points, costing €4.8M. On their defensive line, three of their players made the grade. Simone Bastoni, Mattia Caldara and Dimitris Nikolaou were the ones to have and will continue to be, given they are €5.0M and under, scoring 15, 10 and 10 points each.
Points were evenly shared throughout the Inter Milan side. Whether it be the defence, midfield or attack. Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez more or less shared the points. Martinez assisted Lukaku for the goal, helping both finish on seven and nine points apiece. In midfield, Nico Barella is the man to pick this weekend. Both Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez this week, we expect are going to profit massively this week off assists and goals, coming from each other and Barella.
NAPOLI VS MONZA
Monday night saw Napoli kick things off in the right way with a 5-2 win over Verona. Monza themselves closely fought it out on Saturday coming off second best against Torino. Though this week, I do not foresee them getting the three points against Napoli. If you are looking for a differential pick for the Naples side, Victor Osimhen is priced at €8.4M, much less than the likes of Tammy Abraham and Dusan Vlahovic. He managed to bag 11 points, scoring from open play and assisting.
Midfield was where it was at for Napoli this week past. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, selected by 14.0% of managers, picked up 14 points, Piotr Zielinski and Stanislav Lobotka, picked up 10 points a piece. This week, are seen as differentials, picked by 6.0% and 2.0% of managers respectively. I see it happening again this weekend against Monza. Napoli having most of the ball and possession, scoring a hat full of goals and coming away with the three points.
AS ROMA VS CREMONESE
Cremonese are back in Serie A for the first time since 1993/94 and they made a big splash against Fiorentina. They may have gone down to a 3-2 defeat, but as with Salernitana, they can provide kindly priced options for your bench or fourth choice spots. Take, for example, David Okereke, priced at just €4.8M and coming away with seven points. He only played 87 minutes but scored and came away with bonus points also.
Luca Zanimacchia in midfield and Matteo Bianchetti are both picked by under 5.0% of managers, but if they can keep this up, will be ticking over nicely throughout the season, even if they go up against AS Roma this coming weekend.
AS Roma came out with three points, in a hard-fought match against Salernitana last weekend, but against Cremonese, they will have enough in the tank. It was 10 points all around in Fantasy for the Romans, as Rui Patricio, Gianluca Mancini, Roger Ibanez and Leonardo Spinazzola came away with cleansheets. I fully expect this to happen once again. Other than Leonardo Spinazzola, Roger Ibanez and Gianluca Mancini are picked by 5.0% or under of managers. Spinazzola, himself is picked by 24.0% of managers.
Finally, if I could I would pick Bryan Crisante in midfield this week. Yet another differential for midfield, only selected by 3.0% of managers ahead of this weekend’s games. 13 points from a price of €5.0M, get on him quickly in Serie A Fantasy.
