While high-flying FC Köln are in sixth position, which could be their best finish in the last few years, their high-line and attacking mindset make matchday 19’s opponents Bayern’s attackers a lock in our Bundesliga Fantasy player rankings for the week.
Forwards
Rank | Name | Team | Opponent | Value | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Robert Lewandowski | FCB | @KOE | 21.5M | Lewandowski has scored in each of his last six Bundesliga games against FC Köln, and while it might seem spectacular for most forwards, Lewandowski makes it seem normal. |
2 | Serge Gnabry | FCB | @KOE | 16.4M | It has become a custom to recommend three Bayern strikers weekly, and with Sané being a doubt, Gnabry takes his spot. It is known that Gnabry loves playing against teams that concede a lot of shots and have defensively weak full-backs. Köln fit that bill perfectly, and Gnabry even scored a brace against them in the reverse fixture for 18 points, making him the highest-scoring forward for MD2. His ownership is 'just' 6%, so he could be a great differential for this week if you don't own both Lewandowski and Müller. |
3 | Erling Haaland | BVB | vs SCF | 18.6M | Nico Schlotterbeck and Flekken have been the only players holding that Freiburg backline together, and with both of them missing out again and Uphoff starting, who had an error on both goals conceded last week, it could be a recipe for disaster for Freiburg again. It is the first game of the matchday, too, so Haaland is great for star flexibility. |
4 | Thomas Müller | FCB | @KOE | 19M | Rain or shine, win or lose, Müller just can't stop returning and collecting scores above 10 points. He has got a single-digit score just once in the last 11 matchdays, which makes me ask why only 14% of managers own him. |
5 | André Silva | RBL | @VFB | 16.6M | Silva is slowly finding his old form with five goals in his last six games and could be a decent differential pick against the team that has conceded the most shots so far. |
6 | Rafael Santos Borré | SGE | @FCA | 9.3M | I am guilty of making fun of Borré's finishing earlier this season, but it makes me happy to see him prove me wrong. He now has a return in each of his last five games (four games and three assists) and has averaged 11 points per game during that period. Frankfurt now face some of the worst defenses in the league in Augsburg, Arminia (early game), Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Köln in consecutive gameweeks and the Borré hype train is now accepting early entries for those who want to capitalize on these fixtures. |
7 | Patrick Schick | B04 | @BMG | 15.9M | A slight doubt for the game against Borussia and facing a new and improved defence with Friedrich in the mix but always worth a shot because he is in unreal form with nine goals and an assist in his last five games. Note: Ligainsider lists that he isn't doubtful anymore. |
8 | Breel Embolo | BMG | vs B04 | 11M | There isn't enough emphasis on the number of defenders Leverkusen are missing. Left-back Hincapié has been filling in at center-back, and now possibly Tah might be out too. It certainly explains why the team has conceded 13 goals in their last four games. |
9 | Jonathan Burkardt | M05 | vs BOC | 7.9M | Blanked in four consecutive games, but he could turn his form around soon with a home game against newly promoted Bochum. |
10 | Wout Weghorst | WOB | vs BSC | 15.7M | These are two teams/mediocre defenses desperately in need of a win, so maybe we could see some goals from them for once? |
Midfielders
Rank | Name | Team | Opponent | Value | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Dominik Szoboszlai | RBL | @VFB | 12.5M | It is a guessing game whether Szoboszlai starts or not against VFB, but it should certainly be worth it if he starts. |
2 | Christopher Nkunku | RBL | @VFB | 17.2M | Two of the biggest spammers in the game in Nkunku and Szoboszlai against the team that has conceded the most shots? I'll have both. |
3 | Filip Kostić | SGE | @FCA | 17.5M | |
4 | Patrick Wimmer | DSC | vs SGF | 5.4M | On a yellow card warning but you can't ask for more from a budget midfielder who got 13 points without a return last week and plays against the worst team in the league this week. |
5 | Jamal Musiala | FCB | @KOE | 13M | This game could be a goal-fest with how leaky FC Köln's defence has been this season, so a midfielder from Bayern could be worth punting on. |
6 | Jesper Lindstrøm | SGE | @FCA | 8.1M | A mini version of Kostić for almost half the price that loves scoring goals. |
7 | Florian Wirtz | B04 | @BMG | 13.5M | |
8 | Vincenzo Grifo | SCF | @BVB | 15M | The return of Hummels did not have a significant impact on the BVB defence against Frankfurt, especially on their ability to defend set-pieces which Grifo specializes in. |
9 | Grischa Prömel | FCU | vs TSG | 6.5M | Since Union's promotion in 2019, they've lacked a good attacking midfielder in fantasy, and Prömel might finally change that. He has two goals and an assist for a total of 29 points over his last two games and has been instructed by his head coach to attack the opposition penalty area even more. So we could see him on the scoresheet more often. |
10 | Julian Brandt | BVB | vs SCF | 11.8M |
Defenders
Rank | Name | Team | Opponent | Value | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Joško Gvardiol | RBL | @VFB | 10.5M | Gvardiol has a better floor than Angeliño despite playing as a center-back and also saves you about 4M. An RB Leipzig defender is almost a must-have this week as they play Stuttgart, who haven't scored a single goal in their last three games, including the last match against Greuther Fürth. |
2 | Raphaël Guerreiro | BVB | vs SCF | 14.1M | A good thing is that BVB play first, so we will know whether he starts or not. |
3 | Evan Ndicka | SGE | @FCA | 10.6M | Despite his -2 dud last week, I have confidence that he can turn it around against an Augsburg team that also failed to score against Greuther Fürth. |
4 | Andrés Andrade | DSC | vs SGF | 2.5M | Greuther Fürth have finally plugged their hole in defence with cleansheets in their last 3/4 games, but the attacking woes still remain the same with one goal in their last four games. Andrade could be key to unlocking some salary and also has a great fixture to go along with it. |
5 | Silvan Widmer | M05 | vs BOC | 7.6M | Mainz are seen as a good defensive unit, but their cleansheet prospects are questionable this week because they are missing all three first choice center-backs - St. Juste, Hack, and Niakhaté. |
6 | Kevin Akpoguma | TSG | @FCU | 5.5M | There are no stats or eye test behind this pick other than the fact that Union are a bit light in terms of attack without Awoniyi, and it seems like the perfect kind of game for Akpoguma to get a jammy return like he does so often. |
7 | Luca Netz | BMG | vs B04 | 4.6M | The trio of Ginter-Elvedi-Friedrich sounds incredible on paper, but it would take something special to hold Leverkusen at bay. |
8 | Jeremie Frimpong | B04 | @BMG | 7.5M | Even though Borussia are still missing Hofmann, the Leverkusen defence has been too bad to seriously consider for me. |
9 | Christian Günter | SCF | @BVB | 13.3M | |
10 | Niklas Süle | FCB | @KOE | 11.3M | With midfielders Kimmich and Sabitzer filling in as full-backs and only Süle and Pavard to choose from against an attack-only team such as FC Köln, I think I will pass on Bayern defenders. |
Goalkeepers
Rank | Name | Team | Opponent | Value | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Stefan Ortega | DSC | vs SGF | 8.1M | |
2 | Manuel Riemann | BOC | @M05 | 6.1M | A strong play with decent cleansheet odds and potential for saves. |
3 | Kevin Trapp | SGE | @FCA | 9M | Averaging 8.6 points in his last three games but still underrated by Bundesliga fans and BLFantasy managers. |
4 | Robin Zentner | M05 | vs BOC | 6.2M | |
5 | Sascha Burchert | SGF | @DSC | 4.3M | Before I get judged for recommending Burchert, I would like to mention that he technically has a cleansheet in three of his last four games while averaging 7.75 points. |
Value Rankings
Rank | Name | Position | Team | Opponent | Value | Comments |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Masaya Okugawa | MID | DSC | vs SGF | 7.1M | Although Wimmer gets most of the attention, Okugawa is also a great pick and has scored in each of his last three games, averaging 14 points. |
2 | Ihlas Bebou | FWD | TSG | @FCU | 9M | Bebou is a great player but has been high risk, high reward in fantasy. A game against Union, who just lost their best defender in Friedrich, makes him worth betting on. |
3 | Marvin Schwäbe | GKP | KOE | vs FCB | 1.3M | Either he finishes with a negative score or saves a lot of shots to make up for it. |
4 | Benjamin Uphoff | GKP | SCF | @BVB | 1.2M | Uphoff clearly looked distraught after making two big mistakes in the last game, and I hope he bounces back in the early fixture. |
5 | Karim Onisiwo | FWD | M05 | vs BOC | 8.7M | |
6 | David Nemeth | DEF | M05 | vs BOC | 1M | Injuries to the entire Mainz defence gives Nemeth an opportunity and he could be a good enabler with back-to-back games against promoted teams Bochum and Fürth. |
7 | Marco Richter | MID | BSC | @WOB | 8M | Wolfsburg have the worst form in the league with a loss in each of their last six games, and Hertha will be confident of securing three important points over here. |
8 | Maximilian Mittelstädt | DEF | BSC | @WOB | 7.1M | |
9 | Konstantinos Mavropanos | DEF | VFB | vs RBL | 6.8M | Almost certain he won't keep a cleansheet, but Stuttgart are desperate for a goal and might push him up the pitch while attacking. |
10 | Bastian Oczipka | DEF | FCU | vs TSG | 1.9M | Could start the next game or two in Gießelmann's absence. |
