Bundesliga Fantasy Market: Players to Buy and Sell for MD16

Tipster Andres shares his tips on which players you should look to buy and sell in MD16 of Bundesliga Fantasy.

We bring you this new weekly section where we recommend which players you should buy or sell in each match week regardless of the price or the percentage of owning of the player. We present our thoughts and analysis of each player and why this is the moment to buy it or sell it based on the situation facing. With nothing else to add, let’s start with the market.

Players to Buy in Bundesliga Fantasy MD16

Kramaric / TSG / 13.9M

The Croatian Forward it’s the best attacker of “Der Blau”. Hoffenheim will face Darmstadt, who have the worst defense in the league. This is a match made in heaven. But if this isn’t enough to convince you, there’s more. The next six matches of Hoffenheim after the winter break are:

  • @FCB (Andrej has scored four goals in the last six matches vs Bayern).
  • @SCF (3G/A in his last six matches vs Freiburg), vsHDH (Heidenheim it’s the third worst away defense).
  • @WOB (Fourth worst defense in the last five matches).
  • vs KOE and vs FCU (two of the worst teams this season). This good schedule is added to his 2.88 xA and 36 chances created this season.

Brandt / BVB / 17.8M

A very popular player in Fantasy who has been disappointing lately. However, Bradt is one of the motors in the attack for BVB. In the next five match weeks, the “bees” will face five of the bottom seven teams in the league. In addition to this, we have to mention some statistics from the German midfielder this season: he averages 3.44 opportunities created/90min, 0.37xA/90min and he’s ranked as the MF5 so far. Buy him before he blows up.

Musiala / FCB / 16.1M

The Bayern wonderkid has been disappointing so far this season. But with all the injuries that Bayer are facing, Tuchel has been obligated to put him on the left of the attack. This position is where Musiala showed his best form last season and the few matches he played there this season. He proved last year that he can be a must-have and start regardless of the matchup he faces. So, this is a good moment to buy Musiala before he goes nuclear.

Players to Sell in Bundesliga Fantasy MD16

Stöger / BOC / 11M

This sale is more a strategic move than a long-term warning. Stöger is suspended for the matchday 16. So you can sell him and with the unlimited transfer period of the winter break, buy him again.

Bernardo / BOC / 4.5M

Bernardo has been putting in good performances in the last two match weeks, but he’s part of the fourth-worst defense of the league, and now, he depends on what he produces in offense to compensate for all the goals that his team receives. Now it’s a “sell high” moment with him.

Guirassy / VfB / 14.7M

His 20M release clause in real life, the AFCON Cup and the highest price he would have before he leaves your squad sooner than later. Guirassy is one of the MVPs of the Fantasy this year, but it’s almost impossible that he will be in the Bundesliga in February. Sell him before it’s too late.

Fantasy Bundesliga: Differentials for MD15

With two match weeks remaining before the winter break in the Bundesliga, we have to try to approach the top spot in all our Bundesliga Fantasy leagues. To help you with that, we bring you eight differentials for the week, so that you can differentiate from the rest of your league mates and win your match week. Remember, a differential is a player who’s owned below 15% of teams.

Alassane Pléa / BMG / FWD (2%)

The Colts’ star forward has been averaging 9.3 ppg in the last three weeks. It’s the best differential (in my opinion) of the week if you want a cheaper alternative to Sané, Boniface or Openda.

Luca Netz / BMG / DEF (8%)

Another Borussia Monchengladbach player and it’s because I love their matchup against Werder Bremen. Netz has scored 33 points in his last 4 games, he also has generated 1.55 xA (expected Assists) and 17 chances. As well, his rival this week has the 7th worst attack in the last five matches.

Ermin Demirović / FCA / FWD (4%)

One of the underrated players in fantasy this year. The FWD7 has averaged 11,3 ppg when he plays at home, and even if his opponent this week is Borussia Dortmund, Demirović can do a lot of damage to the 4th worst team of the last five weeks in the league.

Niclas Füllkrug / BVB / FWD (2%)

I don’t come from speaking highly of Borussia Dortmund, but I can speak highly of Füllkrug. In the last 6 league matches, he has produced 6 G/A, even if his team hasn’t helped him at all.

Jordy Makengo / SCF / DEF (0%) and Kiliann Sildillia / SCF / DEF (3%)

The two defensive backs of Freiburg are on the list. Both are solid options against Köln, who’s the worst attack in the league. Sildillia played the full Europa League match on Thursday against West Ham, perhaps Makengo only played 74 minutes. So if you want an upside, choose Sildillia, if you want a secure floor, choose Makengo.

Franck Honorat / BMG / MID (3%)

The French newcomer has been a little irregular in fantasy this season. Regardless of that, he has 43 chances created (2nd best), nine big chances created (4th best) and 4.9 xA (2nd best). This week against Werder Bremen seems to be a big opportunity for him to shine.

Jonas Wind / WOB / FWD (7%)

The Danish is the offensive motor of his team. He also faces the worst defense of the league, Darmstadt. A good sleeper for the attack this week.

Brajan Gruda / M05 / MID (6%)

Another good option to target if you want a differential at midfield. Gruda has won 64 duels and generated 1.61 xA and 18 chances created this season. Not the most exciting option but his matchup against Heidenheim at home gives him a big upside.

I hope that at least one of these options can help you to achieve the top match week qualification in your league unless you play against me.

1Leroy SanéFCBvs VFB18.1MA lot more of the attacking responsibility will be on Sane if Kane is out and Bayern pair him with Choupo-Moting and Tel up front. Anton possibly being out for Stuttgart is also a plus.
2Victor BonifaceB04vs SGE16M
3Lois OpendaRBLvs TSG16.8M
4Alassane PléaBMGvs SVW12.7MFavourite differential for this week. Plea has a goal or assist in each of his last six Bundesliga games and Werder Bremen have the joint worst away record so far with zero wins and one point from their six away games so I am expecting Borussia to get a positive result here.
5Jonas WindWOB@SVD12.8M
6Michael GregoritschSCFvs KOE12.9MKoln might have two cleansheets in a row but I am expecting that run to end here. Gregoritsch has scored the winning goal in each of Freiburg's last two wins so I am expecting a double-digit score for him again.
7Harry KaneFCBvs VFB18.7MDoubtful because he lacks match fitness so he is probably one of my transfers out this week.
8Niclas FüllkrugBVB@FCA15.5M
9Deniz UndavVFB@FCB9.4MEight goals and two assists in his last 10 games and is also on sale. Bayern have been conceding lots of chances so he can still have an impact on the game.

1Kevin StögerBOCvs FCU10.6MConsidering the floor to ceiling risk, I still like Mr. consistent the best. Union's form has improved but they are struggling to maintain a good amount of possession in the matches and if that remains the case against Bochum then Stöger could do some heavy damage.

3Julian BrandtBVB@FCA17.7M
4Florian WirtzB04vs SGE17.4M
5Jonas HofmannB04vs SGE18MPredicted to start but a sub risk since he played 75 minutes in the midweek game.

8Vincenzo GrifoSCFvs KOE16.7M
9Mattias SvanbergWOB@SVD10.4MFeels like one of those random games where he gets 10+ bonus points.

3David RaumRBLvs TSG12.7MFeeling a little more confident about the Leipzig full-backs this week since Hoffenheim might be missing around eight first choice players in this game.
4Benjamin HenrichsRBLvs TSG12.9M
5Raphael GuerreiroFCBvs VFB14MOne to consider if he starts in midfield like in Ligainsider's predicted lineup since it is his best position fantasy-wise.

Bundesliga Fantasy: Biggest Surprises and Disappointments of the Season

After 11 matchdays in Bundesliga Fantasy, we now have an idea of players who have surpassed our expectations at the start of the season and those who have been disappointing. Tipster Andres shares his thoughts on who they are.

We’re almost at the halfway point of the season in the Bundesliga, and for us, it is enough time to judge the season for some players in fantasy football. Like all the seasons, there are many surprises as well as many disappointments, and this season is no exception.

The only decision to make before the start is that we exclude newcomers because we didn’t have any clue of expectations from the majority of them. And then, we also excluded players like Julian Brandt, Leroy Sané and Jonas Hofmann who are players who already proved that they’re just good players in fantasy football.

Glossary of some words used:

  • #/90: average per 90 minutes of the statistic in question
  • xA: Expected Assists
  • pts: Points
  • PPG: Points Per Game
  • GK: Goalkeeper
  • DF: Defender
  • MF: Midfielder
  • FW: Forward

Honourable mentions to Jonas Wind (Wolfsburg), Kevin Müller (1. FC Heidenheim), Noussair Mazraoui (Bayern Munich), Chris Führich and Enzo Millot (VfB Stuttgart).

Ans dishonourable mentions to Raphael Guerreiro (Bayern Munich), Donyell Malen (Borussia Dortmund), Ritsu Doan (Freiburg), and Florian Kainz (1. FC Köln).

Surprise: Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen)

I know we just said that the newcomers were excluded, but we can’t talk about surprises in the Bundesliga without mentioning Grimnaldo’s name. The left wing-back of Leverkusen has been perfect, to the point of being the second player with the most points in fantasy football so far (164). Set piece specialist, with monstrous statistics like his 3.29 touches in the opposition box/90 minutes, 1.49 chances created/90 min and six goals in 11 starts this season so far. A must-start for the rest of the season and the best value in defense.

Disappointment: Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich)

The wunderkind is ranked as the 23rd-best midfielder this season for total points, even if he’s averaging nine points per game. And the disappointment comes through the expectations with Musiala before the start of the season. We expected that he would put up numbers like Florian Wirtz or Jonas Hofmann do. Or just average the same amount of numbers as he did last season. We can link this downgrade on his points with some injuries. However, last season he missed just one match in the entire season, in this one, he already missed four matches. We expect a rebound with him because he continues to be productive, but he has to stay healthy at the same time.

Surprise: David Raum (RB Leipzig)

From a disappointing 2022/23 to a magnificent start of this 2023/24 season. Raum has been a point-scoring machine. Being part of the second-best defense in the league, and the one with the most clean sheets explain a little bit of his prolific production. But if he starts every match it’s for a good reason. Registering 2.32 xA (the best among left-backs in Europe), 1.5 chances created/90, 4.3 duels won/90 and 15 points coming from assist to a shot. He’s finally the starter on the left back at Leipzig, and it doesn’t look like this will change for a while. And we see the explosive Raum that we saw two seasons ago at Hoffenheim.

Disappointment: Niclas Füllkrug (Borussia Dortmund)

Now we have the opposite example. The biggest surprise of the last season, being the top scorer in the Bundesliga, to be mid in one of the biggest clubs in the league. The signing of Niclas to Borussia Dortmund seemed to be perfect, it was what they needed. But so far, he only has scored three goals and given two assists. Very far from the expectation we had with him this season.

Surprise: Jan-Niklas Beste (1.FC Heidenheim 1846)

I’m not gonna lie to you, if it is because of Fantasy, I would never listen to Beste. But if you have a minimum of knowledge of fantasy football, you know him well from this season. Even if he plays for a promoted team who seems to be fighting relegation, at least Beste has been putting numbers like he’s fighting for the title. 110 points so far and ranked as the #4 midfielder. He’s the offensive motor of his team and he has become a must-have through the rest of the season.

Disappointment: Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)

I don’t know if it is a really disappointing season for Kimmich, at least in fantasy terms, but his point production from last season has been disappointing. This season he’s ranked as the 18th best midfielder in fantasy, when he finished the last season as the 8th best one. Even if there is a regression, I also think that he’s no longer a must-have. Bayern’s attacking style is based all around Kane and the interchange of movements with his wingers, so we’re not seeing many Kimmich long shots or arrivals to the opposite box. He has now become a regular defensive midfielder for fantasy football, which means, his value is lower compared to the rest of the midfielders.

Surprise: Serhou Guirassy (VfB Stuttgart)

We finish the list with the obvious one, the greatest, Serhou Guirassy. You already know him and that he’s a must-have if you want to win your league. Even if he missed a month due to an injury, he’s still the 4th best forward in Bundesliga fantasy football with a 37pts gap between him and the forward in 5th. Last season he scored 151 points in 22 matches, this season, he has scored 151 points in just nine matches. Maybe this scoring streak it’s not sustainable throughout the season, but we can’t deny the fact that he has been one of the best players of fantasy football when he’s healthy.
