FPL Gameweek 4 Tips: To Wildcard or Not?

While most FPL managers will be wildcarding on GW8, there are some that might use the chip early in GW4 after a disappointing start to the season. Tipster Luthfi Aditia shares a few things that you must keep in mind before using wildcarding in his first article for the website.

Many of you may be frustrated with your squad output for the first three gameweeks. Some of you will be tempted to activate the Wildcard chip going into gameweek 4. But hold that thought, as I’m going to show you some aspects to consider if you want to activate your Wildcard chip.

Just for the record, this season, FPL has provided three wildcards in total for managers.

  • The first WC is available from GW1-GW16.
  • The second WC is available from GW17-GW38.
  • The third WC or additional WC is available in the period between GW16 and GW17 due to the World Cup.

1. Schedule From GW4 Until the International Break

Note that the domestic cups have already started and also the European schedule is about to start (some of the qualifying matches have started even before), so your wildcard squad must depend on the fixtures midweek fixtures too not just domestically.

Here I show you the schedule for GW4 onwards till the first International Break (24th Sept 2022):

  • GW4: 27 Aug
  • GW5: 30 Aug
  • GW6: 3 Sept
  • European Group Stage GW1: 7 Sept
  • GW7: 10 Sept
  • European Group Stage GW2: 14 Sept
  • GW8: 17 Sept

2. Rotation Risk

With that being said, one match every 3 days is something that should worry every manager to keep their players from injury risk. So, rotation must be applied to that period of time. Here are the teams that are competing in Europe this season:

– Manchester City (UCL)
– Liverpool (UCL)
– Chelsea (UCL)
– Tottenham (UCL)
– Arsenal (UEL)
– Manchester United (UEL)
– West Ham United (UECL)

Quoting Pep after the GW3 match he said, “I’ll tell you now that when we have games every three days, Erling is not going to play (every game). Julian is going to play.”

That’s the example of a manager who is terrified of the schedule in that period of time. Prepare for some heavy rotation for each team that will be playing every three days.

3. Fixture Swings

If you see the FDR table, there are fixture swings from GW8 onwards. That’s exactly before the International break to GW9. Teams like ARS will face three big six teams (TOT, MCI, LIV) from GW9 to GW12. Another example is Fulham, they won’t be facing any big six teams from GW8 onwards until GW14. So, your team might be upside down if you are chasing to activate the wildcard early in this period of time.

4. Transfer Window

Last but not least, the transfer window is still open until the 1st of September. That’s a two gameweek period and new faces will come while some old faces will go. You don’t want to be stuck with players that go out from Premier League and you don’t want to have to take more hits or wait until the World Cup period for unlimited transfers, right?

I hope that’s gonna give you some insight on whether to activate the wildcard chip or not. After all, the decision is in your hands.

Bundesliga Fantasy: Predictions and Player Picks for Gameweek 4

Now that we have data for the first three gameweeks, tipster Zahid takes a look at the best players in Bundesliga Fantasy so far and those that could come good in gameweek 4, along with the teams to target.

After a week full of emotions and so many goals, yet another adventurous game week awaits us. We observed lots of surprising moments such as Borussia Dortmund vs Werder Bremen, where we were expecting Dortmund to be the more dominant side. On the other hand, the goal-scoring machine of Bayern München didn’t hesitate to stop against VfL Bochum. In this week’s article, we’ll consider some of the matches in which we expect to gain a significant number of points from.

SC Freiburg vs. VfL Bochum

The opening game of this week attracts a lot of attention. After a disastrous start to the league, Bochum will once again clash for points, while SC Freiburg will definitely try to optimize their performance in front of its fans after a not-so-efficient game against VfB Stuttgart.

There are quite a few players in the home side’s squad that can be considered to be worth transferring. Without a doubt, in a match where Freiburg is considered to be an advantageous side, Vincenzo Grifo [13.8M] and Christian Günter [12.9M] are the two obvious additions if you still don’t own them. However, despite not having his best performance in the last match, I believe that Japanese newcomer Ritsu Doan [8.4M] should also be considered as a priority as he is available for a cheaper price and attributes efficiently to the attack. This is really a choice concerning budget, although one fact should be bear in mind that Grifo is also a set-piece taker which obviously puts him a few steps ahead in the offense. Kilian Sildillia can also be an alternative to Günter costing only 3.6M, while still delivering decent points.

Of course, it is almost impossible to make some observations from the latest game of the guests. At the same time, if we look at the last four Bundesliga away games for Bochum, they have conceded at least three goals in every single match, which makes them the underdog of this match. Manuel Riemann [8.3M] remains to be the best pick in Bundesliga Fantasy as he shares 1st place with Schwolow for saves per 90 minutes (6.3). It’s no secret that he is expected to receive a generous amount of shots at his goal once again.

FSV Mainz 05 vs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen

This match is one of my favourites in this week’s fixture as we’re going to observe two sides with contrasting starts to the season. Mainz had the best start to the league in four years, winning their two games and drawing against a strong side in Union Berlin. On the other hand, things are definitely not going well for Bayer. Early elimination from the cup and on top of that, three consecutive losses for the red blacks made the situation quite stressful for Gerardo Seoane. Their motivation to escape from this downfall will surely be decisive.

It’s well known that Mainz has a solid defence from which Aarón Martín [8.2M] can be considered as the best pick in Bundesliga Fantasy as he played a good match against Augsburg except for his penalty miss which cost his owners three points. However, the most important addition to your team can be Karim Onisiwo [9.8M] who also had a great start to the season and is the league’s top scorer along with Musiala and Mané with three goals. Although Jonathan Burkardt [10.8M] returned from injury and got his first appearance in the league in the last match, it was clearly seen that Onisiwo is more attacking He is always active around the penalty area which can be even more dangerous for the fragile defence strength Bayer Leverkusen has shown in the last matches. He is also in first place in terms of shots on target since the start of the season.

A counterreaction to the horrible results is certainly expected from the guests. Nonetheless, it is still hard to make that addition to our teams as besides the dreadful defence, previous matches did not result in any good points for Leverkusen’s attack either. Meanwhile, I would personally prefer Patrick Schick [15.1M] over Moussa Diaby [13.3M] as he is the main goal threat of the team and was so close to scoring against Hoffenheim if his own teammate Azmoun didn’t interrupt. Diaby offers more mobility on the wings, which makes him dangerous against some teams, but I’m not so sure about this team being Mainz. The reason is that they have two solid wingbacks with both capable of good defensive play. I also brought Jeremie Frimpong [10.8M] two games weeks ago, which was in fact quite a disappointment and I believe that it’s linked with how the team cannot build the game from the defence that in my opinion is the result of the absence of playmaker midfield player. So, I’d avoid picking him considering his high price.

RB Leipzig vs. VfL Wolfsburg

This is one of the matches that I’m looking forward to as it’s interesting to see how Leipzig reacts to the defeat against Union berlin. On the other hand, although showing a significant performance against S04, Wolfsburg are still searching for their first win of the season. Both teams are not at their optimum level but match after match we’re starting to observe some major progress.

RBL experienced hardship passing through the defence of Union Berlin as they were perfectly positioned and left no space behind. Although, a few through balls targeted behind the defence gave some opportunities for newcomer Timo Werner. One of these chances was created by my favourite RB player of this season, Benjamin Henrichs [9.4M], which at the end met the post after Werner’s shot. Besides his defensive contribution as a wing-back, his offensive play will be needed in this match. Dani Olmo [12.6M] can also be considered as a solid alternative to Christopher Nkunku [15.8M] in Bundesliga Fantasy if you experience some problems with the budget, as he leads the Bundesliga in big chances created. But you should be aware that free kick duties will put the French star a few steps ahead.

Meanwhile, Niko Kovac tries to implement his ideas on the squad. The situation looks more optimistic with the return of Paulo Otávio [7.2M], who played his last match back in December and missed out due to a knee injury. Clearly, his contribution to the team was obvious in both defence and attack. He crossed lots of threatening balls to the penalty area which could’ve ended up as goals with better finishing. At the same time, he is well known from previous seasons for points gained from won duels, which were in fact six in the last match.

SV Werder Bremen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

Newly promoted side Werder wrote history last weekend, winning the match against BVB despite being 2-0 in the 89th minute—the first team in the Bundesliga to ever do so. Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt on the other hand are looking for their first win of the season after failing to win in their last 11 Bundesliga matches.

It may sound strange but the people watching the game would agree that Werder was the stronger side since the start of the match at the Signal Iduna Park. Werder currently takes 1st place in total interceptions per match (16.3). In this case, Mitchell Weiser would be my first recommendation as despite only costing 3.4M, he has delivered 10+ points in the last two matches. You may also consider Leonardo Bittencourt [5.2M] as a differential, who is actively contributing to the attack.

My favourite pick from the guests would be Daichi Kamada [10.3M], as he has the highest xG+xA per 90 minutes after Thomas Müller in the league. He has also shown how talented he is with the free kicks after becoming one of the main set-piece takers with the departure of Filip Kostić. It should also be considered that Werder has conceded at least two goals in each match this season. Meanwhile, Luca Pellegrini [8.2M] also showed in the last match that he is a worthy addition to your Bundesliga Fantasy squad with his threatful shots. Although I find his price higher than average, he can still be picked as he has 0% ownership.

FPL Tips: Players and Teams to Target For Gameweek 4-8

With the first three gameweeks of the Premier League season now over, tipster FPLbanovic is thinking long term, sharing the best players and teams to target in FPL for GW4-GW8.

Three gameweeks are not enough to have a firm, full opinion on teams, but we have more data to try to figure out which are the best teams, fixtures and assets to target in the next four gameweeks of FPL until the international break which is the perfect time to wildcard. Even if you plan on using your wildcard you can use this as a guide on who to buy. Here is a list of budget-friendly players (Below £8M) that have a high projection of expected points from GW4 to GW8.

Players will be classified into three categories:

  • Must have: players that are absolutely necessary to own.
  • Top pick: players that aren’t essential but could do well.
  • Differential pick: players that we expect to do well with a low ownership percentage.

Arsenal

Arsenal are currently in 1st position in Premier League, with nine points from three matches played. They have a 100% win record and have scored nine goals and conceded two goals while keeping two cleensheets. The Gunners are also the most in-form team. Their Expected Goals for (xGF) is 2.11 and Expected goals conceded (xGC) is 0.73.

FUL (H), AVL (H), MUN (A), and EVE (H) are all coming up next. A relatively easy run of fixtures which put Arsenal at the top of the list. Three of their next four games are at home and against defences that have only one cleansheet in their last eight games so you should fulfil the quota of three assets from them.

Must-have Pick

Gabriel Jesus (£8.1M) is selected by (81%) of players which is sufficient to put him in the must-have category. Jesus has played in all three matches so far and has scored two goals (2.05 xG) to go along with three assists (0.76 xA). He also has seven shots in total (three on target).

Gabriel Martinelli (£6.4M) is selected by (41.4%) of FPL managers. He has played three matches and scored two goals but is yet to have a non-FPL assist to his name. His (xG) is 1.26 and his (xA) is 0.51. He has a total of seven shots (three on target) just like Jesus.

Top Pick

Martin Ødegaard (£6.4M) – Selected by 13.1% managers. He has played three matches and has scored two goals. Ødegaard also has two shots on target from a total of six shots. His (xG) is 0.82 and his (xA) is 0.08.

Differential Pick

William Saliba (£4.6M) – TSB (9.0%). He has played three matches and has one shot on target—a goal in the last game against Bournemouth (0.11 xG). Saliba also kept a cleansheet in that game and has a 100% tackle success ratio.

Gabriel Magalhães (£5.0M) – TSB (8.0%). He has played three matches so far with a total of two shots for 0.22 xG). Plus, he has kept two cleansheets in addition to five successful tackles with a 71% success ratio.

Brentford

Brentford are currently in 8th position in the league. They have won one match, drawn one, and lost one while scoring eight goals and conceding five goals in the process. Their (xGF) is 1.46 and (xGC) is 1.71. Brentford face EVE (H), CRY (A), LEE (H), and SOU (A) in the coming weeks; teams that have conceded in all games for a grand total of zero clean sheets in their 12 games played.

Top Pick

Ivan Toney (£7.2M) – TSB (16.7%). Toney has played in every Brentford game, scoring two goals and assisting another two. He has a total of five shots (two on target). His (xG) is 1.46 and his (xA) is 1.15.

Differential Pick

Josh Dasilva (£4.6M) – TSB (11.0%). Popular budget enabler Dasilva has started in just two matches so far (plus one as a sub) but has scored two goals. He has two shots on target from a total of two shots and has an (xG) of 0.07.

Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton and Hove Albion are currently in 5th position in the league, with seven points from three matches played. They have won two matches, drawn one, and are yet to lose a game. They have scored four goals and conceded just once with an (xGF) of 1.85 and (xGC) of 1.08.

LEE (H), FUL (A), LEI (H), and BOU (A) are the next four fixtures for them. Teams that have conceded many goals and Brighton are expected to score in each of these games. Also, no team has conceded fewer big chances than Brighton and they have produced two cleansheets out of their three matches which makes them a team to target in FPL, especially when it comes to picking defenders.

Must-have Pick

Pascal Groß (£5.7M) – TSB (8.8%). The top scorer for Brighton and Hove Albion has played all games for the Seagulls with two goals and an assist to his name. He has accumulated (1.59 xG) and (0.89 xA) and has two shots on target from a total of three shots. His performance and ownership make a must-have on a budget and also worth a shout as a differential pick thanks to his low ownership.

Top Pick

Robert Sanchez (£4.5M) – TSB (13%). At £4.5M, Sanchez offers great value. He has kept two cleansheets so far in addition to nine saves and has only conceded once in three games which was because of an own goal.

Differential Pick

Danny Welbeck (£6.5M) – TSB (1.6%). Welbeck has played all three matches and even though he is yet to score, he has two assists and a total of six shots. His (xG) is 0.51 and his (xA) is 0.61. At 1.6% ownership, he could be a great differential.

Leandro Trossard (£6.5M) – TSB (2.3%). Trossard has played three matches and has scored one goal from nine shots (five blocked, two on target, two off target). He has an (xG) 0.80 and (xA) of 0.21.

Leeds

Leeds United are currently in 3rd position in the Premier League, with seven points from three matches played. They have won two matches, drawn one, and are unbeaten. They have scored seven goals and conceded three. Their (xG) is 1.72 and (xGC) is 1.11.

They showed great form and resilience in the first three games and their attack was very aggressive and dangerous against Chelsea. Their upcoming fixtures are BHA (A), EVE (H), BRE (H), and NFO (A), a great run of fixtures that their rejuvenated attack will most likely take advantage of.

Must-have Pick

Rodrigo (£6.3M) – TSB (21.6%). Leeds’ star player has played every match so far and has scored four goals from a total of 10 shots (six on target) and his (xG) of 1.96 and his (xA) is 1.00. He is currently at the top of the Premier League goal-scoring charts ahead of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane. His form and numbers combined with a favourable set of fixtures put him directly into the must-have category.

Differential Pick

Jack Harrison (£6.0M) – TSB (2.7%). Harrison has scored one goal and produced three assists in the first three games. He has two shots on target from the same number of shots and created three big chances. His (xG) is 0.59 and (xA) is 1.32 per match. Harrison is one of the few players who have returned in all of the matches so far and at 2.7% ownership, he can be a massive differential in FPL.

Serie A Fantasy: Gameweek 2 Preview

With just a few hours to go for the gameweek 2 deadline, tipster Aaron shares his insights on the best teams and players for the week in Serie A Fantasy.

We go again. Gameweek 1 is in the books and points have been updated. We learned one thing from round one and that is points update overnight. Round two of Serie A Fantasy is back open for transfers to take place by us Fantasy managers. Moving forward this week, we are going to take another look through some of the games from Saturday, Sunday and Monday and where the points will come from the most.

UDINESE VS SALERNITANA

Salernitana narrowly avoided relegation last season, by achieving 18 points from their previous 15 matches. I wonder is that going to happen again this time around. At home to AS Roma this past week, it was a close-fought match and they managed to only lose 0-1. If you are on the lookout this week from Salernitana, they have some great under €5.0M options for your bench or fourth defender spot. Take Federico Fazio, who against AS Roma, came up with a six-point haul.

There are actually some great names in the Salernitana squad, that should get Fantasy managers’ hearts pumping. Former Inter Milan and Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva and former Bayern Munich and Fiorentina attacking midfielder Franck Ribery also play for Salernitana. Candreva will cost you €7.6M, but Ribery will only cost €6.0M.

On the Udinese side of things: Former Watford forward Gerard Deulofeu came up with goods, even though AC Milan came out of the winning side last weekend. Seven points on a points score of €7.4M, one assist and three points from playing 90 minutes. Another former Watford midfielder Roberto Pereyra was on point in the midfield, with seven points including an assist and two bonus points.

INTER MILAN VS SPEZIA

Spezia had a great start to their Serie A campaign last weekend. I believe this week it will all come undone against Inter Milan. Their defenders and goalkeeper were the ones to have last week and again this week their keeper will be one to have, if Inter can get many a shot off. Bartlomiej Dragowski will be a save points magnet having come through with 11 points, costing €4.8M. On their defensive line, three of their players made the grade. Simone Bastoni, Mattia Caldara and Dimitris Nikolaou were the ones to have and will continue to be, given they are €5.0M and under, scoring 15, 10 and 10 points each.

Points were evenly shared throughout the Inter Milan side. Whether it be the defence, midfield or attack. Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez more or less shared the points. Martinez assisted Lukaku for the goal, helping both finish on seven and nine points apiece. In midfield, Nico Barella is the man to pick this weekend. Both Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez this week, we expect are going to profit massively this week off assists and goals, coming from each other and Barella.

NAPOLI VS MONZA

Monday night saw Napoli kick things off in the right way with a 5-2 win over Verona. Monza themselves closely fought it out on Saturday coming off second best against Torino. Though this week, I do not foresee them getting the three points against Napoli. If you are looking for a differential pick for the Naples side, Victor Osimhen is priced at €8.4M, much less than the likes of Tammy Abraham and Dusan Vlahovic. He managed to bag 11 points, scoring from open play and assisting.

Midfield was where it was at for Napoli this week past. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, selected by 14.0% of managers, picked up 14 points, Piotr Zielinski and Stanislav Lobotka, picked up 10 points a piece. This week, are seen as differentials, picked by 6.0% and 2.0% of managers respectively. I see it happening again this weekend against Monza. Napoli having most of the ball and possession, scoring a hat full of goals and coming away with the three points.

AS ROMA VS CREMONESE

Cremonese are back in Serie A for the first time since 1993/94 and they made a big splash against Fiorentina. They may have gone down to a 3-2 defeat, but as with Salernitana, they can provide kindly priced options for your bench or fourth choice spots. Take, for example, David Okereke, priced at just €4.8M and coming away with seven points. He only played 87 minutes but scored and came away with bonus points also.

Luca Zanimacchia in midfield and Matteo Bianchetti are both picked by under 5.0% of managers, but if they can keep this up, will be ticking over nicely throughout the season, even if they go up against AS Roma this coming weekend.

AS Roma came out with three points, in a hard-fought match against Salernitana last weekend, but against Cremonese, they will have enough in the tank. It was 10 points all around in Fantasy for the Romans, as Rui Patricio, Gianluca Mancini, Roger Ibanez and Leonardo Spinazzola came away with cleansheets. I fully expect this to happen once again. Other than Leonardo Spinazzola, Roger Ibanez and Gianluca Mancini are picked by 5.0% or under of managers. Spinazzola, himself is picked by 24.0% of managers.

Finally, if I could I would pick Bryan Crisante in midfield this week. Yet another differential for midfield, only selected by 3.0% of managers ahead of this weekend’s games. 13 points from a price of €5.0M, get on him quickly in Serie A Fantasy.

Eliteserien Fantasy: Gameweek 19 Preview

Latest Rosenborg signing Casper Tengstedt has just played two games in the Eliteserien so far but already has four goals including a hattrick to his name, so it isn’t a surprise that tipster Jacob Silkstone is trusting him with the armband in his Eliteserien Fantasy TOTW for gameweek 19.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW18 Recap

In GW17, a set of disappointing picks was redeemed by the perfect captain pick; in GW18, a disappointing captain pick was redeemed by the rest of the team. Holmbert Fridjonsson hit the post and then blanked as Lillestrøm slumped to an unexpected 1-0 defeat against Jerv, all but ending their title challenge. We had more luck with our other strikers: Henrik Udahl scored again as Vålerenga drew with HamKam, while Rosenborg’s new star Casper Tengstedt registered one of the highest individual hauls of the season with a hat-trick and an assist against Sandefjord.

Assists from Joel Mvuka and Carlo Holse, plus a couple of bonus points for Isak Helstad Amundsen, helped boost our final score to 60 points. With the gameweek average down at 43, that’s another solid score for the Tipsters Team of the Week.

In GW19, Viking’s continuing involvement in Europe means that they and Kristiansund both have a blank gameweek; Molde’s fixture against Haugesund was initially expected to be postponed too, but is now back in its original spot in the schedule. It’s also worth noting that we’ll get early team news for Bodø/Glimt, so any rotation ahead of their Champions League play-off will be known before the deadline.

Eliteserien Fantasy GW19 Picks

Goalkeeper

Against expectations, Magnus Smelhus Sjøeng (4.6M) has maintained his starting spot for Vålerenga even after the arrival of Per Kristian Bråtveit in the summer transfer window. The battle for the number one spot is worth monitoring, and Smelhus Sjøeng remains a bargain as long as he keeps starting. Vålerenga have kept clean sheets in two of their last three at home, and visitors Tromsø haven’t won an away game all season.

Defence

Lars-Christopher Vilsvik (5.1M) leads the rest of the Strømsgodset defence for expected assists, slightly underperforming his stats so far this season. Both of his double-figure points hauls have come at home, and Jerv remain (as we seem to point out in this article every week) the weakest attack in the league.

With the risk of reduced minutes for the wing-backs, we’re looking at solid central defender Benjamin Tiedemann Hansen (5.5M) as a reliable selection from the Molde backline. Tiedemann Hansen has completed ninety minutes on every start this season, with the notable exception of a red card against Viking in GW5. He has also been popular with the bonus point system lately, receiving four bonus points in Molde’s last four games.

Lillestrøm’s form may have dipped slightly, but they still have a formidable defensive record at home: five clean sheets, and only three goals conceded on their own turf all season. Vetle Winger Dragsnes (5.8M) gets the nod for his attacking threat.

Finally, Isak Helstad Amundsen (4.4M) has been a breakout star for Bodø/Glimt this season and looked like one of the best players on the pitch as they saw off Dinamo Zagreb in the first leg of their Champions League play-off. As with Molde, there are some question marks over reduced minutes for the more popular picks; Helstad Amundsen offers a more reliable option for a far better price.

Midfield

With Bodø/Glimt focused on their Champions League run, Amahl Pellegrino (12.3M) has played the full ninety minutes in just one of their last six games. In that time, he has scored nine goals and racked up four double-digit fantasy hauls. Check the team news before making him your captain, but right now he looks too good to ignore.

With the same caveat about checking the team sheets before confirming any transfer or captaincy decisions, we’re doubling up on the Bodø/Glimt midfield with Joel Mvuka (6.8M). Mvuka looks wildly underpriced in the fantasy game, producing six assists in his last four matches. Watch him play live and you’ll be baffled that he hasn’t scored more…

Vålerenga are unbeaten in their last six, and Osame Sahraoui (8.4M) leads the league for expected assists. With a European spot still not out of the question, they’ll be expecting another win from their clash against Tromsø this week. As mentioned above, the visitors have yet to win away from home this year.

Strømsgodset’s Herman Stengel (5.7M) is 13th among active players for expected assists, outranking the likes of Pellegrino, and also a regular penalty taker. He finally delivered on his underlying stats last week, and he’s our favourite budget midfield pick ahead of a home game against Jerv.

Attack

Danish striker Casper Tengstedt (9.5M) has enjoyed a stunning start to his Rosenborg career, returning four goals and an assist from his first couple of games. Opponents Aalesund were smashed 4-0 by Vålerenga in their last away game and haven’t won any of their last five league matches. Tengstedt takes the captain’s armband for us this week.

Tengstedt’s arrival has also been good news for Ole Christian Sæter (6.6M). The two forwards have struck up a formidable partnership already, and Sæter has three goals and two assists from his last three games. We’re happy to risk a Rosenborg double-up this week.

Bundesliga Fantasy Player Rankings for Matchday 3

Matchday 2 of Fantasy Bundesliga was a repeat of the same difficult week last season but with lots of excellent fixtures to choose from, we have better hopes from our Bundesliga Fantasy player rankings for matchday 3.

Forwards

RankNameTeamOpponentValueComments
1Jamal MusialaFCB@BOC12.8MBochum have looked like the worst defence in the league so far while Musiala has looked like the best player in the Bundesliga with three goals in just two games. No further analysis required.

Note: Musiala is out for this week.
2Alassane PléaBMGvs BSC11.5MEven though logic says Thuram might be better because he plays more centrally and gets into better positions, I still think Pléa is more indispensable to the attack and should outscore him in the long run.
3Marcus ThuramBMGvs BSC10.7M
4Sadio ManéFCB@BOC16.3MHe has looked rusty so far and has the lowest points from Bayern's frontline but it is only time until he fires and has a big game.
5Anthony ModesteBVBvs SVW12MA bit of a gamble considering he might split minutes with Moukoko but probably a good one because Dortmund have scored in each of their last 20 Bundesliga games against Werder Bremen. An average of 3.6 goals in the last five matches between these two sides.
6Lukas NmechaWOBvs S0411.3MI'm inclined to rank Wolfsburg forwards lower because they have failed to fire so far but the team looked excellent against Bayern, especially the attack and there is no way I can see Schalke keeping a cleansheet against them.
7Moussa DiabyB04vs TSG13.3MDon't be fooled by Hoffenheim's win against Bochum. They were less than impressive in that match which ended their 10-game winless run in the Bundesliga since March. Bayer Leverkusen are a good bet for goals this week and Diaby is a more safer pick until Schick finds his shooting boots.
8Michael GregoritschSCF@VFB7.7MProbably the most overlooked forward right now. At 28, he is finally showing the same potential that he did as a 23 year old in the 17/18 season with 13 goals and two assists in 32 matches. With a stellar supporting cast of Grifo, Günter and Doan, he is is likely to have plenty of goals this season. A good differential with games against bottom of the table teams such as Stuttgart and then Bochum in the early fixture next week.
9Timo WernerRBL@FCU14.1MAnother decent shout for a differential but Union have shown that they will be a difficult team to score against this year.

Midfielders

RankNameTeamOpponentValueComments
1Marco ReusBVBvs SVW14.5MPretty much every premium midfielder has a good game this week but Reus has the best game if you discount Wolfsburg's midfield which does not have much potential in fantasy. Also worth noting that he has scored the most goals in his career against Werder Bremen (15G, 8A in 21 games) including a return in each of his last six Bundesliga games against them since 2017.
2Joshua KimmichFCB@BOC15.8MKimmich has a goal and assist and is averaging 2.5 shots and 4 key passes per game. Would you still go without him expecting Bayern to dominate almost every game?
3Jonas HofmannBMGvs BSC14.3MYet to hit top gear but still the best midfielder from the early game.
4Vincenzo GrifoSCF@VFB13.5M50/50 between him and Doan but I think his set-pieces could be decisive against Stuttgart.
5Christopher NkunkuRBL@FCU15.7M
6Max ArnoldWOBvs S0411.1MAlways worth a shout against teams that sit back and concede lots of shots and Schalke have conceded the most of them.
7Anton StachM05@FCA9.3M
8Jude BellinghamBVBvs SVW12.3MBellingham has proven to be a solid floor option with scores of 7 and 11 but I am not sure it justifies the price tag. If I had to pick a game where I could see him get a return, however, it would probably be this one.
9Florian KainzKOE@SGE8.6MI was slow to trust him at the start, but after two big outings, he can't be ignored. I do have some slight concerns about him being subbed early because he played 76 minutes in the midweek Europe game.

Defenders

RankNameTeamOpponentValueComments
1Raphael GuerreiroBVBvs SVW12.4MGuerreiro has looked a bit more like his old self under Terzic which is why I am optimistic about him this week against a Werder Bremen attack that has been outperforming its xG with two goals against Stuttgart at home from just five shots in total.
2Jeremie FrimpongB04vs TSG11MThis might be too high but he might play as on the right-wing against Hoffenheim so I am willing to take the chance on him.
3Christian GünterSCF@VFB12.5M
4Benjamin PavardFCB@BOC11.6MLigainsider says he could be rotated but he was far more attacking than Davies in the last match with two shots and four key passes. 3.8M cheaper too.
5Ramy BensebainiBMGvs BSC11.3MNot that I am expecting a cleansheet from Borussia (which they haven't kept in their last five Bundesliga games) but you might want to think twice about bringing a defender in from the team considering they play Bayern next week.
6Aarón MartínM05@FCA8.1M
7Paulo OtavioWOBvs S046.8MIf you have played Bundesliga Fantasy before you will recognize this name. One of the best floor players because of the hefty amount of duels he wins.
8David RaumRBL@FCU12M
9Jonas HectorKOE@SGE9.6MHector has scores of 9 and 17 in his first two games without a cleansheet. He got an outside chance for a cleansheet this week but more importantly plays Stuttgart and Wolfsburg next where he has a better chance.

2Mark FlekkenSCF@VFB10.1M
3Alexander SchwolowS04@WOB6.3MSchwolow has saved the most shots so far with 13 and even though Wolfsburg have the least shots in the league so far, I am sure it will be different against Schalke.
